The green house
We all agree that love is blind, but how? It has become more materialistic today. Love does not always begin with an outward manifestation or by considering material wealth. Here, one such tale is presented.
Nefeli is a teenage girl who was treated like a princess by her family. She is from an affluent household. Ophelia, Nefeli’s grandmother, rules the family like a monarch. In the family and in that village, she is more powerful. Due to their affluence, the entire hamlet has respect for the Nefeli family. They own the majority of the community lands. In the past, their ancestors were in charge of the village. Nefeli’s hairstyle and the majority of the dresses she wears for special events are equally as stunning as she is.
They received invitations to numerous gatherings and public events. Ophelia attended all of these events with her granddaughter, Nefeli. She shares the same hair type as her grandmother. Their long, thick hair appeared silky. Nefeli has a stronger bond with her grandmother than she does with her parents.
Nefeli and Ophelia constantly have stories to tell and secrets to discuss. Her grandmother’s( Ophelia’s ) room is close to Nefeli’s. She is closer to Ophelia, but there is a good reason for that. The women of Ophelia’s generation, in particular, begin experiencing uncontrollable hair loss at the age of 10, due to a unique hereditary illness. It resembles alopecia but is ten times more severe. To be clear, by the time they reach adolescence, they will be entirely bald. The majority of first-born girls experience this. And it goes on from one generation to the next.
To be clear, Nefeli and Ophelia both have this hair condition. The younger Nefili is currently in the beginning stages of this condition. For generations, this hair issue has been kept a secret. This is unknown to anyone outside the household, not even some housemates. The family has a particular wig maker who visits and creates the ideal wig for the family in order to conceal this. He was kept up, and he was paid a hefty price to keep the secret from past generations. He even came to the residence as if he were a cousin, because that is how he was instructed to.
Although Nefeli had two sisters, their hair was quite ordinary. Compared to other grand daughters, Nefeli receives more compassion and affection from her grandma Ophelia since she suffers in the same ways.
Nefeli’s parents and Nefeli go through a lot in order to hide this secret from her sisters. She ensured that access to her room was restricted starting at certain ages. She never wears the wig while she is alone in her room. She keeps her wig holder and extra wigs in a hidden box. The wig maker makes sure to use actual, natural hair. No one can question his craftsmanship because of the method he uses.
Due to these factors, Nefeli’s grandmother maintained a personal maid. The maid never modifies her routine, such as refraining from entering Nefili’s chamber while she is by herself. Barbara, the personal maid, is quite elderly and is aware of their secret. She started working for them when Ophelia’s mother was still alive. She stays in their home and works there; she is devoted to them and responsible for caring for their wigs and setting their hair. When they walk outdoors for any gathering, Barbara always accompany them. She makes sure the wig is adjusted or checks to see if it is sitting properly.Without realising this, Nefeli’s sisters consistently demand a personal maid. However, each time kids request it, their parents cite a different justification. They felt as though Nefeli was the only child they lavished attention on.
Nefeli, on the other hand, is a very shy girl who often feels very inferior to other girls because of the state of her hair. When compared to other girls, she occasionally believes that she is not as attractive. She managed to finish school, but due to her hair issues, she was unable to form any lifelong friendships. Despite having a decent heart, she behaved badly and kept her friends at arm’s length. Due to her wealth, they were left with the impression that she had a bad attitude.
Many boys were attracted to Nefeli by her appearance and clothing. But she never gave anyone a second thought or advanced the friendship. She talks to her grandmother about all of these topics because she has experience with them and can offer advice on how to handle certain circumstances. Although much of her advice works, some might not. Nefeli enjoys gardening, so she wanted to pursue higher education in the field of agriculture. Her family was supportive, but they advised her to wait or take a break before enrolling in a course.
Nefeli visited their farms in the interim, began taking several field trips, and began learning in practice about the sorts of soil, seasonal crops, etc. Considering her passion, her father hired Christos, a full-time specialist who is more knowledgeable about agriculture. He engaged Nefeli in his research endeavors and started training her because he is both a researcher and a trainer. Christos is a tall young man with short, neatly cropped hair. He has a terrific body, which may be related to his employment in agricultural areas. He always enjoyed himself while working on a farm. He never has a helper. Christos is a really professional . He acts in the same way when instructing Nefeli. He speaks more theoretically, which occasionally bores Nefeli. Nefeli and Christos attempted to construct a greenhouse as time went on in an effort to learn more about farming.
When the greenhouse was ready, Nefeli began studying various farming technologies. Nefeli and Christos were attempting to hang numerous plants in the greenhouse one lovely evening. They were using many hooks to handle She stoops to grab the next plant after every one has been hung. Her hair (the wig) was pulled off when it caught on a hook when she knelt down. In the fraction of a second it took for the wig to hang on the hook, she stood without it. She was left helpless and clueless. She wanted to flee that spot, but she remained still. Christos approached her and looked at her because he was unable to fully understand what had occurred. By the time Nefeli grabbed her wig and fled back to her home.
She locked the door and began sobbing. Except for Christos, no one was aware of what occurred. Later, when her grandma knocked on her door to ask about dinner, she responded, “She is not hungry.” Ophelia, however, could hear her granddaughter weeping silently. She attempted a variety of approaches to get her to come out, but she never did. Without bothering her, Ophelia left. The following morning, she saw Barbara cleaning Nefeli’s room, so she quickly went in and ordered the maid to leave. She then inquired “what happened” while seated next to Nefeli. Nefeli described the incident slowly.
She was concerned that Christos may disclose this to someone. Ophelia assured Nefeli that she would take care of things, and she urged her not to worry. She also counselled her to carry on as if nothing had occurred. She advised against sitting with a troubled expression because the other residents might have many questions. Nefeli also informed Ophelia that she no longer desired to remain in that village. She requested to be sent to any of their getaway properties. She was soothed by Ophelia, who remarked, “Okay, we’ll figure it out.” Christos was waiting for Nefeli to resume their mentorship session on that specific day.
Ophelia proceeded to meet Christos in the greenhouse, took a stroll inside of it, and started the conversation there in a very generic way. She inquired about the plants’ productivity. Christos was explaining things to her because he lacked the courage to inquire about Nefeli. It’s a tremendous secret that they have been keeping from the public for years, according to Ophelia. She’ll spend anything to keep that secret. When she suddenly turned around to face Christos, she stated, “Things seen in the greenhouse should be buried in it,” adding, I hope you understand better.”
Christos had no idea Ophelia would use such a tone. He thus nodded in agreement with what Ophelia stated, asked for her permission, and prepared to depart. Then Ophelia added, “Nefeli won’t need a mentor any longer; she’s moving abroad for higher education.” Christos understood clearly that he no longer had a job. She then gave him a handful of cash and told him to leave. Christos refused to accept the money, claiming that I had already been paid. He then took his belongings and went.
Ophelia returned and rested in her garden while experiencing the same bewilderment as Nefeli. “What if he shared this with anyone?” she wondered. She began to suspect him and began considering alternative strategies to keep him in check.
…….to be continued.
